This work offers a summary of the book "THE CLEAN TECH REVOLUTION: The Next Big Growth and Investment Opportunity" by RON PERNICK and CLINT WILDER "Clean tech" is not only the environmentally friendly option, it is the business-friendly option too, as government regulation and public opinion swings in its favour. Additionally, using fewer natural resources can mean increasing returns for investors. Companies such as Goldman Sachs, Toyota, and Sharp are now using and investing in Clean Tech.
Pernick and Wilder explore the rationale behind Clean Tech and the eight key sectors. They explain that each sector still has its challenges - how to drive down consumer costs for solar power, for example - but also analyse where the profit opportunities are for the companies with the knowledge and expertise to exploit those opportunities. They also suggest that just as Silicon Valley is a technology hub, which attracts new investors, there will be massive rewards for any city that becomes the same for Clean Tech.
The Clean Tech Revolution also offers a blueprint for how to sell Clean Tech products in a market that´s changing, but still a little resistant to the Clean Tech products. Companies need to exploit the cool factor, but remember that cost will almost always be the defining factor for most. Pernick and Wilder´s argument in favour of Clean Tech is thought-provoking and compelling.
