2009 Exceptionally Francorchamps went all quiet for just one day. The circuit was working full time with 220 days of events programmed, weekend racing, practises and various other events. Despite the fact that the new director Pierre-Alain Thibaut was fully respecting regulations on the environment, a small group of local residents won a court order for breach of license forcing all motor racing to be abandoned for one day at the end of September. This was an event in itself. Fortunately negotiations allowed an amicable agreement to be reached and racing could start again. Nevertheless it was necessary to apply for a new license that was stricter about the noise level. New measures were taken for 2010 and apart from a few exceptions racing was banned between 9 am and 6 pm; a sign of the times that we will have to put up with.....
