Many know of Chronos, but who has heard of Kairos? Whereas Chronos was considered the personification of practical, measurable time in Ancient Greek mythology, his grandson Kairos stops time, enabling us to experience those inspirited moments of intense beauty and vigour.
Chronos represents the time we have, Kairos stands for the time we are. Philosopher Joke J. Hermsen was commissioned to curate this exhibition, in which she sets out on a quest for traces of this inspiring 'Kairos time'. Drawing on word and image, sound and colour, she goes in search of muted time, for reflection, inspiration, spiritedness, and movement.
