Patrick Moutal is Professor of Indian Music at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris (France) since 1984. Admitted at the Faculty of Performing Arts of Banaras Hindu University in 1970, he completed the following degrees : Diploma in sitar (1973), Bachelor (Gold Medal, 1976), Master (Omkarnath Thakur Price, 1978) and Doctorate in Performance and Compositions in 1983. Back in France, he was awarded the French distinction of Chevalier dans l'ordre des Arts et des Lettres. Since then, he is dedicated to promoting Indian musical culture. He is also the author of Hindustani Gata-s Compilation : Instrumental themes in north Indian classical music, Hindustani Raga-s Index and Hindustani Raga Sangita : Mécanismes de base de la musique classique du nord de l'Inde (French).
