"On n'est pas dans le futurisme, mais dans un drame bourgeois ou un thriller atmosphérique"
As a child, Peter Miller dabbled in magic. In his artistic work today, he immerses himself in the world of illusion by employing the technological universe of film and photography. He experiments with the camera, the negative, the screen, and the projector, light, and chemicals to produce photograms, luminograms, Polaroids, and photo collages. In his collage Set, for example, the artist arranges around ten thousand photographs of sunsets to create a single quasi-cinematic sequence. For the 35mm film Projector Obscura, with the help of a projector installed in various theaters, he recorded their auditoriums. By wrapping an old chandelier with photo paper, he staged the theaters' self-portraits. This monograph, published on the occasion of Miller's participation at the 57th International Art Exhibition La Biennale di Venezia 2017, brings together Miller's past creative work and presents the oeuvre of this extraordinary artist.
